Welcome to my experimental Comics blog on Leaflet. I've been creating many comics over the decades, both one-offs as well as series. The latter includes Will Write For Chocolate, My Life In A Nutshell, Waiting For Frodo, and several other brief attempts at other series.

Why I created this Comics publication:

In any case, I've realized that somewhere along the way, I stopped creating comics for the joy. Once I started getting paid for my art, I became much more self-conscious about sharing it. This blog is my attempt to remind myself of the early days when I was mainly just creating for my own entertainment, having fun.

Six-panel comic about one person saying the other has too many apps on her devices. The latter agrees but then says brightly that she needs an organizer app to help sort them all out.

I am experimenting with Leaflet as another way of sharing my older comics, including a safe space where I can sometimes feel free to experiment with new styles and formats.

Panel 1: Two sisters sit at a table. One says, "Thanks for volunteering to be my cooking guinea pig, Ruth." The other replies, "Hey, what else are sisters for?" Panel 2: The sister serving the food says, "So this is your first attempt at cooking with curry paste? Let's see...." The other sister raises her chopsticks holding food toward her mouth. Panel 3: The sister who tasted the food sits frozen with wide eyes, flushed cheeks, and hair sticking out in all directions. The other sister watches with a surprised expression. Panel 4: The cook says, "Er...I guess I need to adjust the amount of paste I use. Want some water?" The other sister, still red-faced and sweating, replies, "Fire extinguisher, please." Comic by Debbie Ridpath Ohi.

I like the cross between social media and blogging, making it feel more organic and fun (at least to me), plus it could be useful for those who are mainly just interested in my comics. We'll see how this goes!

Three-panel comic. Panel 1: A person says, “Um, Deb? I thought you were working on character sketches for ‘I’m Bored.’” Debbie, sitting on a stool and sketching, replies, “I am.” Her husband Jeff stands nearby holding a purple mug. Panel 2: Jeff says, “Don’t you think you’re overthinking this a tad? I mean, it’s just a potato.” Debbie replies, “Ssh! You’ll hurt their feelings!” Panel 3: Jeff walks away, saying, “Hokay, whatever you say. I’m outta here….” Debbie says, “Sorry for that, everyone. Now, where were we? Oh yes. So what makes you especially qualified for starring in ‘I’m Bored’?” A potato sitting on a stool replies, “I’m opinionated and starchy.” Several other potatoes on the floor say, “I’m bored.” One potato says, “Join the crowd.” Yet another warns the departing Jeff, “Hey, watch your step, buddy!” as he walks past the potatoes.
