Do you identify more with the octopus or the fish? I have tended to be more like the fish, but am gradually getting better at:

1) Enjoying my own journey rather than comparing myself to others.

2) Getting my first draft down more quickly, resisting the urge to edit as I go. I know some writers can do this and stay productive; I've tended to get bogged down! I'll write more on this in my Debbie's Blatherings soon.
